Winter, Economy Killer.

So with the first day back of strapping up my snowboard laces, and getting on the lift for the first time this season at Okemo, it sucks to say that I was sorely disappointed.

It's not your fault Okemo, apparently someone forgot to call for winter weather and wake up that grouchy bastard. November felt oddly warm, nearing September-like temperatures on day and boasting plenty of brilliant sunshine. It definitely still feels like Fall today, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees.

It's December 4th, in New Hampshire...I'd like to see some snowfall at least sometime before Christmas. We got a healthy amount of snow on Halloween which was pretty intense. We got over a foot of snow, and it was a blast, a real good time for sure. That night my Halloween costume happened to be my snowboard gear.

But with the first day at Okemo, and only two trails open? I definitely dropped an F-bomb more than a few times because the only trail at the top that was open was a wide open and nearly flat green circle. And of course I forgot to wax my board before going to the mountain this year, so I was basically grinding my board all the way down. I had to unstrap a few times and 'skate' towards a steeper part of the mountain which was frustrating, but totally my fault.

Nonetheless, I'm praying for snow. Getting to the mountain and just shredding is one of the most relaxing things that I've recently been able to get back into and it'd be nice if we could get in a few inches of snow more frequently. I'm sure everyone here at school feels the same as well. And for the ski and snow industry? I bet this warm weather is killin' em. Talk about a bad economy, this warm weather is nice, but let's top delaying the inevitable. We live in New England, we're ready for the snow and bitter cold, and those of us that go to the mountains for our winter entertainment, we thrive on it. This is your official wake up call Winter. Get to it.
