You want to learn more? Read More.

It's easy, you stop being active, you watch more tv, you lose your drive, lose your ability to push yourself, and now you feel stagnant.

It all happens to us and the worst part is that there's no one to blame. You might have the drive to eventually overcome it, or maybe some sort of catastrophic break up has dragged you down beneath the mud. Maybe your going through some sort of tumultuous event in your life. Who knows?

As I was doing some more deep thinking while at work today, it came to my attention that I felt like I haven't grown a whole lot lately. Back in my teenage years I figured by the time I was 21 (which I am now) I'd be some sort of super hero making buckets of money in California or being some adventurous mountain man in the wilderness.

Funny story, I'm not either one of those two guys.

The conclusion that I came to was that I'm not reading enough. I used to be a pretty avid reader (Which doesn't even compare to how much my dad reads) but the point being is that when you read, especially things that make you ponder, it helps you grow.

While most people may read TMZ or catch whatever dose of news they see on TV, it's not quite the same. Books like "The 4 hour work week" by Timothy Ferris and his other book "The 4 Hour Body" are stimulation books for the mind, body and soul. Personally, other books such as "The Compassionate Samurai" and "Kitchen Confidential" have led me down some interesting pathways of thinking. Which brings me to my centralized point.

You want to grow? Read a book that pertains to you.

Your not going to walk into a Barns N Noble and pickup the book for you in the first thirty seconds. Take some time to think about what's really on your mind and try to find a book on it. A person's biggest problem is that they can become stagnant, and stop growing either emotionally or mentally. Pick up a book that teaches you a new skill set. You'll be ultra proud of yourself and could possibly find that niche you've always been looking for.
